The Blue Gold Foods
Tilapia production facility will be a state-of-the-art ‘suspended biofiltration’ aquaculture
system engineered for an efficient use of the water and power resources
of the site. The closed nature of the system, in contrast to competitive
lake and stream cage farms, reduces the potential risk of waterborne
pathogens.
The project will be based on a self-cleaning production
system, in which sludge is continuously removed from the production
ponds by flushing into sedimentation tanks, and the nitrogenous waste
compounds (ammonia, nitrite), continuously oxidized by heterotrophic
and nitrifying bacteria culture, developing within the production
water media.
A balanced ecological state is achieved in which the ammonia produced
by the daily feed applied for fish production, is equal to the amount
of ammonia required by the bacterial cultures, for its energy and
growth precursors.
Blue Gold Foods Tilapia production will be characterized by
simplicity of system and procedures in an environmentally sustainable
and modular system of covered greenhouses. |
